FAQ
The rename, what Cyster is building, what we collect, who reviews this content, and what is out of scope. Plain answers, honest about pre-launch state.
The rename
The condition was renamed in The Lancet on May 12, 2026, after a 14-year effort led by Helena Teede at Monash University, with 56 endorsing organizations. PMOS (polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome) names what is actually happening in the body. PCOS named one symptom in one organ. The new name reflects the science.
Product mechanics
A tracking app records what you already know. A forum gives you many anecdotes and not much filter. A general AI does not remember you across sessions and is not clinically reviewed. Cyster is single-condition, longitudinal, evidence-tier graded, and reviewed by a named clinician.
The Atlas is free, no account required. It shows you which organs are in the conversation given what you have noticed. The Companion is members only. It is a private chat thread with longitudinal memory and clinical review behind every reply.
Privacy
Encrypted at rest and in transit. Never sold. Never used to train AI models. You can delete it at any time. The thread is yours, not ours.
Evidence
Mary Kristine Zabala, RN, with an Executive Master of Health Informatics from the University of Toronto. Mary reviews every clinical claim for medical accuracy before it reaches you.
Not yet. Cyster is being built independently. If we ever take outside capital, we will tell you who and why before it happens.
Scope
No. Cyster is not a medical device. It is educational and pattern-recognition support. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent any medical condition, and is not a replacement for your healthcare team.
Yes. The Atlas and the Pattern Assessment are designed for people who suspect something is off and want better language for it. Cyster does not diagnose, but it can help you walk into an appointment more prepared.
Cyster is not designed for medical emergencies. If you are in crisis, please contact a crisis line in your region. Canada, US, UK, Australia, and global lines are listed at the top of every footer.
