Terms
Effective: May 24, 2026. Last updated: May 24, 2026. Operator: Cyster Inc., Toronto, ON, Canada. These terms cover use of cyster.app during Cyster’s pre-launch phase. They are written plainly. They are not a substitute for clinical care and they do not pretend to be.
By using cyster.app you agree to these terms. The big ones:
- Cyster is not medical advice. The content is educational. Anything that requires diagnosis, prescription, or treatment belongs with a clinician.
- The companion is not live yet. Most of what cyster.app describes is in build. Live State framing applies.
- Don’t redistribute our content commercially. Personal use is fine; sharing a Pattern Report or a knowledge page with friends or your doctor is encouraged.
- Your assessment answers belong to you. We use them only to produce your Pattern Report and (anonymized, in aggregate) to improve the editorial.
- We can update these terms. When we do, we will email anyone on our list before the change takes effect.
Detailed sections below.
Agreement to these terms
These terms govern your use of cyster.app (the "Site") and the materials on it. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
These terms reference the Privacy notice, which explains what we collect and how we handle it.
What Cyster is, and is not
Cyster is an editorial and product brand focused on PMOS (polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome), the condition previously known as PCOS. The current Site provides:
- Educational content about PMOS mechanisms, symptoms, evidence, and clinical considerations.
- The Body Atlas, an interactive recognition tool.
- The Pattern Report, a 12-question assessment producing a pattern-named report formatted for clinical conversations.
- An inline chat for questions, answered by a human within 24 hours by email.
- A waitlist for the message-based companion product currently in build.
Cyster is not:
- A medical device.
- A diagnostic tool.
- A prescribing service.
- A replacement for your clinician.
- A telehealth or care-delivery platform.
- A medical-records system.
Pre-launch state
Cyster’s companion product (a private, message-based companion) is in build. It is not live. References on the Site to the companion describe what is being built, not what is operating today.
Where the Site uses present-tense language (for example, "Cyster reviews your patterns"), read it as forward-looking. The inline chat on the Knowledge Center is the one currently live surface; it is labeled in preview with a pulsing live indicator.
By joining the waitlist you understand that:
- Companion launch dates are estimates and may shift.
- Pricing for the companion is not finalized.
- You will receive periodic build-in-public emails (one every one to two weeks) and the launch announcement.
- You can unsubscribe at any time.
Permitted use
You may use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes related to learning about and navigating PMOS. Specifically:
- Read any knowledge page, the Body Atlas, the FAQ, or other published content.
- Complete the Pattern Report assessment and receive your Report.
- Share a knowledge page link or your Pattern Report with friends, family, or your clinician. This is encouraged.
- Ask a question via the inline chat.
- Join the waitlist for the companion.
You may not:
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract content from the Site.
- Republish Site content in a commercial publication, course, or product without written permission.
- Misrepresent Site content as your own, or remove the reviewer credit, source citations, or tier badges.
- Use the Site to harm yourself or others, to harass, or to violate any applicable law.
- Reverse-engineer or attempt to derive the Pattern Report’s assessment logic for a competing product.
- Submit deliberately false information to the inline chat or waitlist.
For commercial inquiries (using Cyster content in clinical practice training, partnerships, syndication), email arushi@cyster.app. A dedicated /for-clinicians page is coming.
Your content
The information you submit (waitlist email, Pattern Report answers, inline chat questions) is "your content."
You retain ownership of your content. You grant Cyster a limited license to use your content for the purpose tied to your submission, as described in the Privacy notice:
- Sending you a Pattern Report.
- Sending you a human-authored answer.
- Sending you waitlist updates.
- Improving the editorial in aggregate, anonymized form (your individual answers are never republished).
You can ask us to delete your content at any time by emailing privacy@cyster.app.
Intellectual property
Cyster, the wordmark, the Body Atlas, the Pattern Report, the knowledge slate, the pattern model, the diagram system, and all other Site content (except your content per Section 5) are owned by Cyster Inc. or licensed to it.
You may share links and excerpts (with attribution) under fair use, fair dealing, and similar doctrines applicable in your jurisdiction. Substantial reproduction, redistribution, or commercial use requires permission.
Where Cyster cites third-party sources (Lancet, JAMA, Monash Guideline, peer-reviewed studies), those sources retain their own copyright and terms. Citations link to the original where possible.
Medical disclaimer
Read this carefully.
Cyster provides educational content about PMOS. This content is general information, not medical advice. It does not establish a clinician-patient relationship between you and Cyster or anyone associated with Cyster.
Always consult a qualified clinician for diagnosis, treatment, medication decisions, or any health concern. If you are pregnant, trying to conceive, taking medications that affect blood glucose or hormones, or have any condition that interacts with the topics discussed, decisions about diet, movement, supplements, or other interventions belong with a clinician who knows the full picture.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call emergency services. If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide or self-harm, contact a crisis line (in Canada, dial 988; in the US, dial 988; in the UK, Samaritans at 116 123; full international list at findahelpline.com).
Cyster does not diagnose, prescribe, treat, or replace your clinician.
Disclaimers and warranties
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cyster disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Cyster makes editorial and clinical-review effort (see Founders for our standards) but does not warrant that the Site is error-free, uninterrupted, or that any specific content will be accurate, complete, or current at every moment. Where Cyster discovers a material error, it is corrected and the page’s Last updated date is updated.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cyster Inc., its founders, employees, advisors, contributors, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Site, including loss of profits, loss of data, or loss of goodwill.
In any case where liability cannot be excluded by law, Cyster’s total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising from or related to the Site will not exceed CAD $100 or the equivalent in your local currency.
Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (for example, liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited under Canadian, EU, UK, or your local consumer protection law).
Termination
You may stop using the Site at any time. You may ask us to delete any data we hold about you per the Privacy notice.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms (for example, scraping, repeated abuse of the inline chat, or impersonation). Where possible, we will explain why.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
Disputes arising from or related to the Site will be brought in the courts of Ontario, Canada, except where consumer protection law in your jurisdiction grants you a non-waivable right to bring an action in your local courts.
If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
Changes to these terms
We update these terms when scope or operations change (for example, when the Drop 3 companion launches and commercial terms enter scope). We will:
- Update the Last updated date at the top.
- Email anyone on our list before any material change takes effect.
- Where new product features carry their own terms (a subscription, a beta agreement), present them as a separate document, not buried in this one.
